The agreement
These terms are between you and Luke Carr, who runs Troped as an individual based in the United Kingdom. They cover the website at troped.co, the sign-in service at id.troped.co, the API at api.troped.co and the Troped iOS app. By creating an account or using any of them, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy.
What Troped is
Troped lets a group of people keep a shared list of films, rank them individually and see the order the group agrees on. It is free, and it is a small personal project. It may change, pause or close, and features may be added or removed without notice.
Your account
You must be at least thirteen years old to use Troped. You sign in with an email code, a Google account or an Apple account. Keep access to that email or account to yourself: anything done from your account counts as done by you. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
Your username, display name, bio and avatar are public. Pick ones that do not impersonate someone else or infringe anyone's rights.
Groups and invite links
Whoever creates a group owns it and can rename it, remove members and revoke invite links. Anyone who opens an invite link can see the group's name and member count, and can join while the link is valid. Only share a link with people you want in the group. If the last member leaves, the group and everything in it is deleted.
What you add
You own what you write and upload. By adding it to Troped you give us permission to store it and show it to the people it is meant for: the members of your groups, and for your profile, anyone. That permission ends when the content is deleted.
Do not use Troped to:
- upload an avatar or write text you do not have the right to use;
- harass, threaten or deceive other people;
- post anything unlawful or sexually explicit;
- probe, overload or interfere with the service or other people's accounts;
- use automated tools to collect other people's profiles or content.
We may remove content or close an account that breaks these rules.
Film information
Film titles, posters and details come from TMDB (The Movie Database) and belong to their respective owners. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Film data may be incomplete or wrong, and Troped does not sell, stream or link to films.
Ending things
You can stop using Troped at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing howdy@troped.co. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or if we shut Troped down. If we close the service we will give reasonable notice where we can.
No warranty and limits on liability
Troped is provided as it is, without any promise that it will be available, accurate or free of faults. Keep your own record of anything you would miss. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of Troped or from being unable to use it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the date at the top changes with it. If a change matters to how you use Troped, we will tell you by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Troped after that means you accept the new terms.
Law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute, without taking away any consumer protection you have where you live. Questions go to howdy@troped.co.
